Burnout!
How do we deal with Burnout and how to overcome it? Stress, in the form of Burnout, is one of the most exhausting of psychological stressors. It changes the way our brains work, it affects how our lives operate, it affects how we treat ourselves, and our family and friends.
Taking a step back: Parsing out the things that are stressful for you so that you can make an account of the issues that are causing burnout, and the problems that are adding to the burnout.
Modify your perspectives. This isn’t easy but it creates agency to the stressors that are affecting your bottom line. Regaining control over your emotions revolving around the burnout.
Buffering. Recognize your thoughts that are adding to your stressors. When they come up - remind yourself that these are thoughts, nothing more, and give less energy to the stressors.
Blocking. Weather its time, use of your phone, thoughts about what you could/would/should be doing or not doing - recognize that if you “block” those thoughts off and separate them from your reality you can manage burnout better.
Anchoring. Using your time resources and enjoyments to anchor yourself to the hope of those things that provide undeniable pleasure. Working out, walking, time with your animals, long drives, reading books… Find your joy and lean into it.
Friends and Family. Your support structure is so important to burnout recovery. Use that structure to reclaim your best life.
